Summer Fun For A Good Cause
Fresh ideas for reaching out to new and existing consumers can be hard to come by, but they’re necessary for keeping your retail environment exciting. They also give people a fun excuse to come to your store.
Half Moon Outfitters in Charleston, South Carolina, was looking to reach out to their existing female customers and connect with new ones as well. Specialty retail is about creating personal experiences that bring different communities of people into the store. This summer Half Moon Outfitters partnered with Horny Toad in hosting a summer solstice ladies’ night. It featured live music, local organic wine and food, a touch of philanthropy, plus a few henna tattoos and hair feather extensions. It was a recipe for summer success!
“Partnering with Horny Toad for our Summer Solstice Ladies’ Night was a ton of fun. We had about 100 women of all ages, even moms with their teenage daughters. Many of the women who attended had not been in the store before,” said Katherine Smith, Creative & Marketing Director of Half Moon.
“Events like this are invaluable, as they bring new faces and new friends through our doors. Most people think we carry only tents and backpacks. We offer so much more and it is targeted events like these that allow us to connect with different types of people and communities,” states Smith.
Not only was the evening fun, it served a good cause. Guests brought gently used household and personal items to donate to My Sister’s House, a local women’s shelter. In exchange, they received raffle tickets. The grand prize was a $200 Horny Toad shopping spree. Who doesn’t love to shop, especially in the name of a good cause?
